Arsenal – Dynamo: Champions League Future On The Line
By: Yevy | November 25th, 2008
Three weeks ago both Dynamo and Arsenal had a chance to take care of business and turn off the pressure for their second meeting. But with two matches to go every team in Group G still has something to play for. Dynamo will need a minimum of four points to be in position to advance to the knockout round, which means the Ukrainian leaders have to earn a result today in London. Kiev fans will also be hoping for a Fenerbahce triumph over Porto in Istanbul.
Dynamo traveled to London without injured captain Taras Mykhalyk. Malkhaz Asatiani is the favorite to fill his spot in the back line. However the Georgian has not had any match practice since suffering an ankle injury, and manager Yuri Semin may instead turn to veteran Goran Sablic. Back at Semin’s disposal is holding midfielder Ayila Yussuf, who has been out of action since being injured against Arsenal back in September.
Arsenal will be missing Theo Walcott, who caused Dynamo all sorts of problems in their first encounter. The Gunners will also be without Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna, robbing them of more killer pace on the flanks. Back in the fold are new captain Cesc Fabregas, as well as his ousted predecessor William Gallas.
