Diogo Rincon Too Fat To Train
By: Yevy | January 17th, 2009
Dynamo left for Marbella yesterday where they will hold the first training camp of the new year. The schedule for the next ten days includes three friendly matches. The first will be on Sunday against Unterhaching of the German 3. Liga. Dynamo will also face top league contenders in Legia Warsaw and Norwegian side Viking FK. Thirty one players are making the trip to Spain, but Diogo Rincon is not one of them. The Brazilian midfielder, who has a history of fitness problems, arrived in Kiev out of shape and will remain at the team training facility.
In an interview with Sport Express, team president Ihor Surkis openly questioned Rincon’s future as a footballer if he is unable to maintain acceptable weight. During the summer training camp Rincon did not meet manager Yuri Semin’s fitness standards and was sent home to Brazil. He has not had match practice in six months so it is not surprising he is struggling to reach playing condition. Not being brought along to Spain has to be a major disappointed for Rincon, who a week ago expressed a desire to once again earn a spot in the Dynamo starting eleven. With a wealth of midfield options already at Semin’s disposal, the veteran Brazilian is unlikely to get many opportunities to prove himself.
Surkis also shed some light on the progress of the Kleber transfer saga. Representatives of Palmeiras have assured Dynamo that the fee requested for the striker, rumored to be $8 million, will be produced on Monday in full. However should that not turn out to be the case Kleber will fly out to join the squad in Marbella.
Among players breaking camp with Dynamo are two 22 year old central defenders on trial with the club. Dmitry Verkhovtsov has been capped five times for Belarus and plays domestically for FC Naftan Novopolotsk, while Tomislav Pajovic is a Serbian contracted to Cukaricki Belgrade. Dynamo has reportedly reached preliminary agreements to sign both players, and they could be headed to Kiev if they impress Semin.
