Dynamo 3 – 0 Kryvbas: Aliyev On The Double
By: Yevy | September 26th, 2008
Dynamo Kyiv has gone top of the UPL, albeit by virtue of playing the early match of Round 9, with a home victory over Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. Oleksandr Aliyev’s brace bookended a strike from Milos Ninkovic, and Stanyslav Bohush kept a fifth consecutive clean sheet in league play. Highlights are after the jump.
Aliyev’s cannon of a right foot was on full display today, as he opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a scorching 30 yard strike. Less than ten minutes later Ninkovic made it two, bending the ball around the keeper and into the top corner from about 25 yards. Dynamo created numerous chances in the Kryvbas area but could not find the finishing touch. It took another long range effort from Aliyev at the start of the second half to complete the scoring. Faced with a free kick on the left flank that one would expect to be hoisted into the box, Aliyev instead unleashed a fierce drive into the far top corner, leaving the Kryvbas keeper flailing helplessly.
Head coach Yuri Semin handed center back Malkhaz Asatiani his first league start, while Artem Kravets was paired up top with Ismael Bangoura. Maksim Shatskikh and Andriy Yarmolenko came on as second half substitutes, as Dynamo played out the final 20 minutes with four forwards on the pitch. Artem Milevskiy was again unavailable, and I dare not speculate on his status for next week’s Champions League match at Fenerbahce.
