Dynamo – Zorya: Ukrainian Cup Preview
By: Yevy | October 28th, 2008
On Wednesday Dynamo will face Zorya Luhansk in Kiev for the second time in less than two weeks to determine who advances to the quarterfinal round of the Ukrainian Cup. On October 17th the league leaders put four goals past goalkeeper Andriy Komarytskyi during the opening fifteen minutes on their way to a 5-0 rout. It appears Komarytskyi will once again be in the middle of the action after Zorya announced that backup keeper Andriy Tlumak was lost to a broken vertebrae he suffered during the weekend match against FC Lviv.
Artem Milevskiy made his return from an injured ankle during the last encounter between the clubs, and manager Yuri Semin may use this opportunity to give a run out to players looking to regain their match fitness. A flu bug that has kept several team members out of practice this week makes sidelined midfielders Oleh Husyev and Carlos Correa prime candidates to see their first action of the season. Both players were major contributors prior to their injuries, and having them back in the fold would be a boost for Dynamo as they approach a crowded segment of their calendar. Dynamo will host Karpaty Lviv in UPL play on Saturday, before welcoming Porto to Kiev on November 5 in a rematch of their Champions League clash.
