Quick Hits: Mandzyuk Recalled, Guilherme Ready
By: Yevy | March 2nd, 2009
Ukraine international Vitaliy Mandzyuk has rejoined Dynamo as manager Yuri Semin looks to add some depth to his squad’s back line. Mandzyuk was loaned out to Arsenal Kyiv before the start of the season. Former Dynamo great and current Arsenal boss Oleksandr Zavarov was hoping the versatile defender would remain at his disposal, but injuries and the upcoming fixture crunch for the UPL leaders meant Mandzyuk’s services were needed across town. The 23 year old made 15 appearances for the Cannoneers. Zavarov was already dealing with the loss of Dynamo loaner Denys Oliynyk, who scored 5 goals for his side before making a permanent move to Metalist Kharkiv over winter break. Dynamo players Volodymyr Lysenko and Andrey Eshchenko will remain at Arsenal through the end of the season.
Barring last minute scheduling changes, Dynamo will play six matches over the next three weeks. They will face Metalist in three of those encounters. Wednesday’s trip to Kharkiv sets up a crucial battle between the top two teams in the UPL table, while on Saturday third place Vorskla Poltava will visit Lobanovsky Stadium.
The good news for Dynamo is the thinning out of the injured list. Ismael Bangoura and Milos Ninkovic have resumed training with the main group, with Ayila Yussuf expected to join them today or tomorrow. Meanwhile club president Ihor Surkis said he expects record signing Guilherme to make his first appearance for Dynamo this week. I envision the striker making a second half cameo in front of the home fans this weekend.
